Russell Investments' Community Involvement

Community matters to us.

Helping to improve the lives of those around us

Russell Investments Canada holds an active United Way campaign every year to raise money for the organization that is the single-largest source of funding for social services in the country. The United Way of Canada’s primary focus is to reinvest in local communities and support programs and services directed at improving the social conditions of Canadians. The campaign has included associates climbing the 144 stories of the CN Tower in Toronto, and culminates in a week of activity in November.

The Russell Investments Canada campaign also includes active participation in Days of Caring – where associates contribute time and energy to a specific project that helps others. Activities have included planting trees, creating new gardens, and cooking and serving meals to residents of group homes.

The enthusiastic participation of our associates and the substantial support of the executive team has led to Russell Canada being nominated for the coveted Spirit awards several times over the past two decades. These prestigious awards are granted to organizations that demonstrate excellence in their United Way campaigns through commitment, leadership and creativity. Russell was nominated for both the Employee Campaign and Leadership Campaign awards. The campaign has won the Spirit Award twice, most recently for the 2012 campaign.

Other ways we help our community

Associates in the Toronto office have also provided their time and energy to St. Simon's Shelter, a facility that provides emergency shelter and support services to homeless men in the city.

Other organizations that associates have supported in recent years include the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the March of Dimes and Easter Seals. Russell Canada has also been a proud sponsor of community organizations such as the Toronto City Blues hockey team, Cornerstone Foundation, the Canadian Immigration Museum, the Royal Conservatory of Music, and Ronald McDonald House.

Through giving committees, personal contributions, corporate matches and volunteering, our associates respond to needs in our communities around the world.
