Julian Brown is Managing Director, Head of UK OCIO & Consultant and Trustees Relations. Based in the London office, he is responsible for delivering Russell Investments services and solutions to consultants, advisors and independent trustees.​

Julian joined Russell Investments in May 2017 from BlackRock where he was head of UK consultant relations from 2014 to2017. Before that, Julian was an investment consultant at HSBC and JLT (now Mercer) where he held several positions including head of investment consulting and head of JLT’s Local Authority proposition. ​

Julian honed his knowledge of pension funds whilst serving as the investments officer at Nottinghamshire County Council Local Government Pension Scheme before moving into venture capital as a senior investment manager at a fund-of-funds shop. ​

Julian began his career in the financial industry as a mining analyst for Flemings and JP Morgan Investment Bank in 1998. ​

Russell Investments' ownership is composed of a majority stake held by funds managed by TA Associates Management, L.P., with a significant minority stake held by funds managed by Reverence Capital Partners, L.P. Certain of Russell Investments' employees and Hamilton Lane Advisors, LLC also hold minority, non-controlling, ownership stakes.
