Adam Smears is Managing Director Investment Research - Fixed Income, Investment Division at Russell Investments, responsible for ratings on all fixed income and macro managers globally.
Based in Toronto, Adam is the Head of the Canadian Investment team and co-portfolio manager of the Russell Investments Canadian Fixed Income funds.
In addition to his portfolio management and manager research responsibilities, Adam leads the firm’s views on credit and other extended fixed income sectors and has also led the team that developed our credit factor strategies.
Before joining Russell Investments in 2012, Adam spent nine years at Skandia Investment Group (then part of the Old Mutual Group) overseeing
20 analysts as head of investment research for all asset classes. He was responsible £2.6bn in fixed income portfolios, including the top-quartile Skandia Strategic Bond Fund, which was ranked Bronze by Morningstar/OBSR. Before that, Adam was at Fidelity and RBC Dominion Securities.
From 2015 to 2019, Adam was a member of the Inversis Academic Advisory Board where he, along with other leaders in the manager research field and academia, advised on topical issues in asset management and analysis.
