A Top Global Manager of Outsourced Assets (CIO)

For the 13th year in a row (2012-2024), Russell Investments was ranked as a top global manager of institutional outsourced assets under management (AUM) from its fully discretionary clients in CIO Magazine’s annual “Outsourced-Chief Investments Officer (OCIO) Survey.” Notably, in CIO’s “2024 OCIO Survey”, which included 26 firms, Russell Investments placed first among the global managers in Healthcare and in the top 10 for Defined Benefit and 401(k), 403(b) or other DC outsourced assets (as of December 31, 2023).1

For the 15th year in a row (2011-2025), Russell Investments was globally ranked among the leading institutional outsourced chief investment officer (OCIO) managers in Pensions & Investments’ (P&I) annual survey. P&I’s 2025 ranking was based on worldwide outsourced assets under management from 54 firms as of March 31, 2025.2

MMI/Barron's Industry Award Winner: Asset Manager of the Year

Russell Investments has been named Asset Manager of the Year (AUM of $25–100B) by the Money Management Institute (MMI)/Barron's for "How do you want your Russell Investments" a firm-wide sales and service approach helping advisors achieve their goals. The firm has been adapting their investment and business solutions to cater to advisors" evolving needs, addressing the rapid adoption of new technologies and increased demand for customized investments.3

A Leading Consultant in Worldwide Assets (Pensions & Investments)

For the 16th year in a row (2009-2024), Russell Investments was globally ranked as one of the top 12 largest consultants in worldwide institutional assets under advisement (AUA) in Pensions & Investments’ (P&I) annual survey. P&I’s 2024 “Special Report: Investment Consultants” ranking was based on data from 58 firms as of June 30, 2024.4

Factor Investing Offering of the Year (Pensions Age Award Winner)

Russell Investments was named the “Factor Investing Offering of the Year” winner at UK's 2024 Pensions Age Awards. The judges praised Russell Investments’ deep comprehension of the significance of factor investing in the pension sector and their dedication to meeting client needs, thus establishing a high standard for the industry.5

Factor Investing Offering of the Year (European Pensions Award Winner)

Russell Investments was named the "Factor Investing Offering of the Year" winner at the 2024 European Pensions Awards. The judges praised Russell Investments for its passion and expertise in the factor investing space, as well as its performance and innovation.6

2023

Perfect Scores: Outperformer in Multiple Categories (The Trade)

Russell Investments was ranked first in multiple categories in The TRADE’s inaugural “Outsourced Trading Survey” published November 2023 (out of 14 providers), receiving four perfect scores in: Client service and relationship management; Onboarding; Business model and other factors; and Cost versus value for money. The survey reported, “Overall, the firm outscores the survey average by 62bps.”7

A Leading Overlay Services Manager (Pensions & Investments)

For 21 consecutive years (2005-2025), Russell Investments was ranked among the leading U.S. institutional managers of overlay assets in Pensions & Investments’ (P&I) annual money manager survey. P&I’s 2025 “Special Report: The Largest Money Managers” on total overlay assets was based on data from 21 firms as of December 31, 2024.8

Russell Investments' President & Chief Investment Officer Kate El-Hillow was named one of Pensions & Investments’ 2024 Most Influential Women in Institutional Investing. According to P&I, this award highlights exceptional women who have made a significant impact in the industry.9

3MMI/Barron's Industry Award Winner: Asset Manager of the Year. Source: The award was presented on October 12, 2023, and recognizes innovation and leadership in the investment advisory solutions industry. Nominations were reviewed and evaluated by a specially appointed MMI Industry Awards Steering Council and by the MMI Membership Experience Committee (MEC), which determined a slate of finalists in each award category. The primary contacts at each of MMI's 208 members firms were eligible to vote to determine the winners in each category. MMI/Barron's does not receive compensation from the participating firms in exchange for the award and Russell Investments did not pay a fee to MMI/Barron's in exchange for its receipt of the award. Russell Investments is a member of MMI and pays a fee to MMI as part of its membership dues. 5Factor Investing Offering of the Year (Pensions Age Award Winner): Winners were announced February 21, 2024, based on business activities ending January 19, 2024. The awards are open to any UK pension scheme or provider that serves UK pension schemes. Recipients were selected by an independent panel of judges organized by Pensions Age, based on qualitative criteria such as innovation, client service, and contributions to the pension investment industry. This recognition should not be interpreted as a testimonial or endorsement by any client or investor, and it does not guarantee future performance or success. Short-listed recipients were invited to the following publications' awards ceremonies, in which we purchased an event table and received licensing usage rights of the award logo/badge.
