Spina will help advisors meet individual investors’ needs for outcomes utilizing Russell Investments’ multi-asset solutions

SEATTLE, November 29, 2016 – Global asset manager Russell Investments announced today the appointment of Mark Spina as head of its U.S. Advisor & Intermediary Solutions (AIS) business. In this role, Spina is responsible for leading and expanding Russell Investments’ U.S. advisor-focused business, with a focus on providing advisors with multi-asset investing solutions for their individual investor clients. Spina is based in Russell Investments’ New York office and reports directly to CEO, Russell Investments Len Brennan.IS

“The U.S. advisor market presents a considerable opportunity for growth as advisors increasingly look for ways to manage risk while achieving desired outcomes for their clients,” said Brennan. “Mark is joining our firm at a pivotal time. A new awareness of the importance of fiduciary advice is putting multi-asset investing at the forefront of the solutions that wealth managers are leveraging for clients. Mark’s deep expertise and relationships will allow us to maximize the opportunities that lie ahead.”

Spina has extensive and diverse experience in the U.S. advisor landscape, having spent the past two decades in roles focused on advisor distribution. He joins Russell Investments from Pioneer Investments where he was executive vice president and head of U.S. advisor distribution. Prior, he spent 13 years at Voya Investment Management (formerly ING Investment Management) in sales, marketing and product roles. He also held positions at Alliance Capital and Long Bow Capital Management.

“Advisors are tackling the forces of change on multiple fronts, from aging clients and the generational transfer of wealth, to the uncertain regulatory landscape and continued market volatility,” said Spina. “Now more than ever, our business partners and their advisors want to work with asset management firms that can provide fiduciary-led solutions, a keen understanding of the opportunities and challenges that advisors face, and the resources and expertise to help them and their clients succeed. In all these respects, Russell Investments’ reputation is strong and its capabilities are differentiated. I am very excited to join the firm, to build on this reputation and expand the business by delivering practical solutions to complicated problems, paired with excellent ongoing service.”

Russell Investments’ AIS business provides advisors with multi-asset model strategies and mutual funds, capital markets insights and research, and practice management support that helps them run and grow their practices.
