John Hanley is a portfolio manager for Russell Investments’ Implementation Services business, with a focus on corporate and public pension plans. He works with pension plan overlays managing risk exposures and implementing strategies utilizing futures, foreign currency, and OTC derivative instruments. John has over 25 years of capital markets experience, and his background includes significant experience in fixed-income analysis, portfolio management, and asset/liability management.

From 1993 to 2011, as a vice president at Salomon Brothers/Citigroup, John worked closely with large financial institutions and total return managers in fixed-income analysis, portfolio analysis and optimization, and index analytics. He was also responsible for sales and execution of fixed-income cash and derivative instruments. From 1981 to 1993 John worked in portfolio management and asset/liability management for regional financial institutions in the Pacific Northwest.
