CIO 2023 OCIO Survey A Top Global Outsourcer

For the 13th year in a row, Russell Investments was ranked as a top global manager of institutional outsourced assets in CIO Magazine’s “Outsourced-Chief Investments Officer (OCIO) Survey,” based on the AUM from its fully discretionary clients (as of December 31, 2023). Notably, in CIO’s “2024 OCIO Survey,” which included 26 firms, Russell Investments placed first among the global managers in Healthcare and in the top 10 for Defined Benefit and 401(k), 403(b) or other DC outsourced assets.

Russell Investments was named the "Factor Investing Offering of the Year" winner at the 2024 European Pensions Awards. The judges praised Russell Investments for its passion and expertise in the factor investing space, as well as its performance and innovation.4

Perfect Scores: Outperformer in Multiple Categories

Russell Investments was ranked first in multiple categories in The TRADE’s inaugural “Outsourced Trading Survey” published November 2023 (out of 14 providers), receiving four perfect scores in: Client service and relationship management; Onboarding; Business model and other factors; and Cost versus value for money. The survey reported, “Overall, the firm outscores the survey average by 62bps.” A client comment referred to Russell Investments as “the best team and partner” and “always looking after us and steering us when markets turn.” 5

For 20 consecutive years, Russell Investments has maintained its position among the leading U.S. institutional managers of overlay assets from 24 firms (as of December 31, 2023) in the 2024 Pensions & Investments' "Special Report: Money Managers."

A Leading Factor-Based Strategies Manager

In 2023, Russell Investments was globally ranked as one of the top 10 largest managers of factor-based strategies. This ranking is based on worldwide assets under management (AUM) from 58 firms (as of December 31, 2022) in the 2023 Pensions & Investments’ (P&I) "Special Report: Money Managers."

In 2024, P&I eliminated this question from their survey.

Pensions & Investments Influential Women in Institutional Investing: Kate El-Hillow

Russell Investments' President & Chief Investment Officer Kate El-Hillow was named one of Pensions & Investments’ 2024 Most Influential Women in Institutional Investing. According to P&I, this award highlights exceptional women who have made a significant impact in the industry.

Nominations were reviewed and evaluated by a specially appointed MMI Industry Awards Steering Council and by the MMI Membership Experience Committee (MEC), which determined a slate of finalists in each award category.
