Russell Investments hires Jane Williams for lead manager research role
  • On global manager research team, she leads research on Australian and New Zealand products

SYDNEY, 7 February 2017 – Russell Investments has hired Jane Williams as a senior manager research analyst on the firm’s Australian and New Zealand equities team. Based in Sydney, she joined the firm in January.

Ms Williams previously worked at BT Financial Group, part of Westpac Banking Group, where she served as senior investment analyst with responsibility for researching fund managers for the Group’s extensive financial planning network.

“Jane enhances our award-winning manager research process with deep experience across several asset classes, including Australian equities, global REITS and global listed infrastructure,” said Symon Parish, chief investment officer, Australasia, at Russell Investments. “We expect she’ll add great value to this core capability, as a senior manager for ranking all Australian and New Zealand equity products.”

Ms Williams’ appointment was well received by Russell Investments’ Advisor & Intermediary Solutions (AIS) division Australia, which serves the needs of financial adviser clients.

“With seven years of direct experience working with advisers, Jane brings to the role a deep understanding of the importance of fund manager selection in achieving client objectives,” said Siva Sivakumaran, Managing Director, Advisor & Intermediary Solutions in Sydney.

At Russell Investments, the global team of research analysts provides the wider investment team with access to evidence-based research, open architecture selection and rigorous oversight to facilitate an objective approach to constructing portfolio solutions. The team seeks to identify superior investment manager talent through a proprietary research process based on objective analysis. As the list narrows, the team conducts on-site, in-depth, face-to-face interviews with the top managers. This effort relies on a team to rank and classify a universe of nearly 9,400 investment products, representing both traditional and alternative investments across the globe. This includes monitoring more than 2,280 investment manager firms. Complementing this, Russell Investments also is recognised for being among the most thorough in operational due diligence in the industry.
