Russell Investments Master Trust trustee welcomes new director Ross Barry

Former super fund Chief Investment Officer joins trustee board

Sydney, 17 October 2025 – Total Risk Management Pty Limited (TRM), trustee of the Russell Investments Master Trust, announced today the appointment of Ross Barry as a director.

Mr Barry brings more than 25 years’ experience as an investment professional in the superannuation industry. He was previously Chief Investment Officer at Spirit Super, one of Australia’s largest industry superannuation funds, and has held senior investment leadership roles at Aware Super. Ross has also served as an independent director of the Palisade Diversified Infrastructure Fund and held positions at Watson Wyatt Australia. He holds a PhD in Applied Finance from Macquarie University. 

Mr Barry will serve as a member of TRM’s Investment Committee and People and Culture Committee.

“His appointment strengthens our Board’s depth of knowledge and capability in superannuation, investments and member services – ensuring we remain strongly focused on delivering outstanding outcomes for our members.”

Through the Russell Investments Master Trust, TRM oversees iQ Super – for Life and iQ Retirement products, as well as Nationwide Super, Resource Super and Salaam Superannuation. The Trust currently has more than AUD$12 billion in assets and around 85,000 members.

Mr Barry commenced the role on 16 September 2025.
